The Motor Pool Supervisor/Lead Technician is responsible for coordinating the operation of the motor vehicle and equipment repair shop within the State Supported Living Center (SSLC) or State Hospital (SH). Serves as the lead motor vehicle technician. Provides direction to motor vehicle technicians in the execution of all fleet vehicle and equipment repair. Designates, oversees quality of work and assigns and prioritizes the work of other motor vehicle technicians. Ensures vehicles are inspected timely and properly and that scheduled maintenance is performed. Performs and provides direction to others in performing motor vehicle technician diagnostic and repair work, paint and body work, and after-market accessory installation on a variety of motor vehicles such as full-sized vans, wheelchair vans, paratransit/small buses, trucks, cars, forklifts and tractors. Uses a variety of tools and equipment safely and instructs other technicians int eh use of the equipment. Requisitions supplies, checks deliveries, maintains records of work performed, prepares purchase orders, processes paperwork and ensures work area is clean and orderly. Performs other duties as assigned. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs other duties as assigned. Other duties as assigned include actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency’s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.
