About The Position

The Motor PE Engineer (Weld) position is part of the xEV Regional PE group for Electric Vehicle products at Hitachi Astemo. The engineer will be responsible for activities related to Motor programs, focusing on the development and implementation of mass production welding operations. This role involves establishing equipment, processes, and quotations for programs related to Motor products, as well as leading activities to find new and cost-effective solutions for welding operations in the manufacture of automotive motors. The position also requires identifying synergy potentials across programs and best practices to drive cost-effective solutions.

Requirements

  • Engineering skills including knowledge of control systems, robotics, mechanics, pneumatics, optical inspection, and computer programming.
  • Ability to make quick, accurate, data-driven decisions and utilize excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literacy with both personal computers and manufacturing systems.
  • Willingness to support the corporate culture with an absolute focus on ethics and fairness.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with automated TIG or Laser welding processes.
  • Work experience within the automotive industry, with emphasis on electro/mechanical devices.
  • Knowledge of EV components such as inverters and motors.
  • Well organized, attention to detail, and able to handle multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills to prepare and present information to all levels of associates, management, and customers.
  • Ability to lead projects obtaining the support of multiple departments and organizations.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Experience with PCs and application software, such as MS Office tools.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage activities for multiple projects to ensure goals or objectives are accomplished within a prescribed time frame.
  • Support Motor programs within the xEV Regional PE group.
  • Establish equipment, processes, and quotations for Motor product programs.
  • Lead activities to develop and implement mass production welding operations.
  • Identify new and cost-effective solutions for welding operations in automotive motor manufacturing.
  • Identify synergy potentials across programs and best practices.
