About The Position

As a Motor Inspector B at Zekelman Industries, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of electrical and mechanical equipment across the plant. This position requires strong technical skills in inspection, troubleshooting, and repair, and offers the opportunity to directly support operational efficiency and equipment uptime. You will collaborate with electricians, maintenance teams, and operations staff, ensuring that equipment is maintained to the highest standards and that downtime is minimized. This is an on-site role located at our Wheatland Tube facility. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a hands-on environment, enjoys problem-solving, and takes pride in keeping complex systems running safely and smoothly.

Requirements

  • 18–24 months of experience in electrical maintenance, repair, or a related field.
  • Technical knowledge of AC/DC motors, generators, controls, switches, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, interpret technical drawings, and troubleshoot effectively.
  • Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.
  • Strong attention to safety and ability to work in environments with high voltage electricity and heavy equipment.
  • Comfortable working in indoor/outdoor conditions with exposure to grease, dirt, and varying weather.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects electrical equipment, checking bearings, lubrication, commutation, and wear to identify repair needs.
  • Diagnoses electrical issues using test equipment and wiring diagrams, applying sound troubleshooting methods.
  • Dismantles, cleans, repairs, installs, and maintains motors, generators, circuit breakers, and control systems.
  • Performs electrical and mechanical repairs to cranes, transfer buggies, and plant equipment.
  • Operates machine and power tools, including drill presses, saws, grinders, and welding equipment, to complete repairs.
  • Works with repair crews on emergency breakdowns to restore equipment quickly and safely.
  • Performs welding, soldering, cutting, and brazing as required.
  • Maintains tools, work areas, and equipment in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.
