About The Position

The Grader Operator performs either rough or fine grade finishing, precisely spreading and mixing materials in order to dry and prep roads, construct road surface to precise grade specifications, lay cold mix, and/or shave and rip out old road surfaces.

Requirements

• Knowledge of grader and other heavy equipment.
• Knowledge of road construction materials, road construction processes and industry requirements.
• Understanding of computerized controls and electronics.
• Excellent hand, eye and foot coordination.
• Strong communication skills.
• Sense of urgency to meet deadlines.
• Ability to multi-task and set priorities effectively.
• 2 years' experience in a similar position.
• Accustomed to working in an outdoor setting which could include inclement weather, heat & humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
• Ability to perform physical activities that require bending, lifting (up to 40lbs), squatting, walking, and handling of materials.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate the grader and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
• Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment.
• Demonstrate an understanding of grades and interpret roadway plans and drawings.
• Operate other heavy equipment and other construction related duties as required.
• Ability to Finish Base to a ¼" tolerance, must possess the ability to finish different base courses such as lime rock, crushed concrete and soil cement.
