  • Operate specialized motor equipment such as heavy-duty trucks, trash trucks, spreaders, front end loaders, belt loaders, rubber-tired backhoes, sweepers, and tractors.
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance to ensure the operational readiness of equipment, including changing oil and filters, applying lubricants, and replacing belts, hoses, and wipers.
  • Record fuel and oil consumption, mileage, hourly operation, and maintenance activities.
  • Troubleshoot and repair minor malfunctions of the equipment.
  • Assist mechanics as needed with repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Perform manual maintenance and construction activities such as installing roadway signs, flagging traffic, and repairing surfaces.
  • Conduct daily and routine safety checks of equipment prior to and during use to ensure safe operation.
  • Two years of experience in the operation of medium or heavy-duty motorized equipment.
  • Valid Maryland Commercial Class B Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsement codes.
  • Additional related experience and formal education may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
