Operate specialized motor equipment such as heavy-duty trucks, trash trucks, spreaders, front end loaders, belt loaders, rubber-tired backhoes, sweepers, and tractors.
Perform basic preventive maintenance to ensure the operational readiness of equipment, including changing oil and filters, applying lubricants, and replacing belts, hoses, and wipers.
Record fuel and oil consumption, mileage, hourly operation, and maintenance activities.
Troubleshoot and repair minor malfunctions of the equipment.
Assist mechanics as needed with repairs and maintenance tasks.
Perform manual maintenance and construction activities such as installing roadway signs, flagging traffic, and repairing surfaces.
Conduct daily and routine safety checks of equipment prior to and during use to ensure safe operation.

Two years of experience in the operation of medium or heavy-duty motorized equipment.
Valid Maryland Commercial Class B Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsement codes.

Additional related experience and formal education may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
