About The Position

As a Community Builder with the City of Gainesville, you will play a vital role in enhancing your community and making a visible impact on the lives of your neighbors. This position involves semi-skilled work operating various types of motorized equipment for maintenance and construction activities. You will work under general supervision and report to a designated supervisor, contributing to the success of local government initiatives and improving the Gainesville way of life.

Requirements

• Completion of high school or equivalent diploma.
• Six months of experience operating motorized equipment or equivalent training and experience.
• Knowledge of traffic regulations and safe operation of motorized equipment.
• Ability to make minor emergency repairs and adjustments to equipment.
• Ability to operate equipment safely in various weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

• 1A CDL instructional permit may be required at the time of appointment.
• 2A CDL License may be required depending on job assignment.

Responsibilities

• Drive motor trucks to transport materials and equipment.
• Operate front-end loaders and asphalt rollers for street and alley construction.
• Use tractor mowers and other equipment for landscape maintenance.
• Perform manual labor to assist various crews.
• Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance and inspect equipment.
• Make minor repairs and adjustments to equipment.
• Maintain sports fields by dragging infields, painting lines, and picking up trash.
• Apply chemical sprays for weed control and fertilization.
• Set up barricades and temporary traffic control devices.
