The Motor Equipment Operator position at Monroe Community College is a full-time role responsible for the safe and efficient operation of various types of motor equipment, including both special and standard equipment. The operator will be required to drive and operate small and large trucks, as well as at least one of the following: loader, packer, Link belt, roller, plow, backhoe, sweeper, Vactor, root cutter, compressor, or Drott. This position involves a variety of manual labor tasks and requires the operator to be on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, as needed. The employee will report directly to a Foreman or other senior-level employee and may provide lead supervision to laborers. Typical work activities include operating snow plows and related snow removal equipment for cleaning and salting roads, transporting workmen and materials using medium and heavy trucks, and performing maintenance tasks on highways and public works components. The operator will also be responsible for operating motorized lawn mowing equipment and performing manual labor tasks such as cleaning, loading and unloading trucks, repairing sewer lines, and engaging in paving-related activities. Additionally, the operator will use power tools like chain saws and jackhammers, check equipment for operability, perform minor maintenance, and assist mechanics with repairs. The role requires good knowledge of the safe operation of motor equipment and power tools, as well as the ability to perform manual labor and maintenance functions. The operator must be able to follow instructions, establish good working relationships, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
