About The Position

The Motor Associate is responsible for one or more of the following duties in the assembly of motors. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include various roles such as Motor Assembler, Motor Tester, Spray Painter, Winder, Machine Winder, Encapsulation, Rotor Assembler, Core Processing, Magnet Processing, Lams and Commutator Bar Processing, Undercut/Debur, and Commutation Devices. Each role involves specific tasks such as assembling motors, performing tests, cleaning and painting parts, winding wires, and ensuring quality control throughout the manufacturing process.

  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of arithmetic.
  • Self-motivated and capable of completing tasks without supervision.
  • Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble all types of motors by reading and interpreting specification sheets, assembly drawings, outline drawings, and hook-up drawings.
  • Perform small precision assembly and assembly of large units as required.
  • Fabricate or form parts, coils, or structures according to specifications.
  • Mark serial identification and maintain traceability records.
  • Use bill of material to pull correct parts for the assembly process.
  • Perform all required mechanical and electrical tests per IM, Test Procedure, and Motor Test Procedure.
  • Operate all test equipment including Goldline auto tester, MATS test station, and back drive station.
  • Clean parts to be painted and mask areas to be left unpainted.
  • Mix epoxy, lacquer, enamel using proper thinners and reducers.
  • Gather correct wire per winding data sheet and maintain wire, lam and insulator inventory using Kanban.
  • Perform resistance tests to determine if armature is ready for next process.
  • Assemble all rotors by reading and interpreting blueprints and checking dimensions.
  • Perform operations for the mechanical and electrical strength characteristics of yoke-ring sub-assemblies.
  • Perform operations to complete all laminations, end insulators and commutator bars.
  • Perform hand deburring and machine operations to prepare parts and sub-assemblies.
  • Assemble brush spring segments and perform soldering and inspection tasks.
