Job Description: The Motocross Racing Manager oversees AMA Motocross racing activities nationwide, ensuring clear communication of rules, decisions, and regulations across all events. The position supports key motocross initiatives within the Racing Department and contributes to the growth of AMA membership by promoting AMA-sanctioned motocross programs, expanding AMA charters, and advancing the sport of motocross throughout the United States. That includes fostering relationships with competition event organizers, operational partners, and rule-making commissions and groups, as well as working with individual competitors to ensure fairness in competition and completeness in results. Reporting to the AMA Deputy Director of Racing, this position will also communicate, cooperate and work across departments to ensure AMA resources are fully utilized to further the AMA mission with respect to amateur motorcycle racing in America.

  • Cultivates and manages relationships with promotional partners and district representatives concerning all aspects of AMA-sanctioned motocross racing.
  • Represents the organization at events and meetings as assigned by the Deputy Director of Racing.
  • Oversees the National Advancement Program, including rules administration, protest and appeal processes, and serves as chair for appeal hearings.
  • Leads, trains, and supports officials, referees, and volunteers involved in AMA-sanctioned motocross racing.
  • Interprets and clarifies rules and regulations at AMA-sanctioned motocross events.
  • Provides leadership and oversight for the AMA Motocross Racing Commission.
  • Reviews and approves supplemental rules related to AMA-sanctioned motocross racing.
  • Develops, implements, and manages programs and initiatives supporting AMA-sanctioned motocross racing.
  • Monitors and evaluates systems and processes used by organizers, identifying issues and recommending improvements
  • Reviews and edits press releases relevant to the motocross discipline and contributes to the AMA magazine’s racing event schedule.
  • Assists with Racing Department events, including VMD, Commission meetings, banquets, and Hall of Fame activities.
  • Serves as a primary point of communication for AMA members, organizers, insurers, travel and hospitality partners, legal representatives, and AMA staff at all levels, including executive leadership and board members.
  • Provides cross-disciplinary support to other racing categories as needed.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by the Deputy Director of Racing.
  • Knowledge of Motocross rules and technical requirements related to motorcycles and ATV’s
  • Knowledge of AMA Policy and procedures, AMS, AMA Back Office, AMA Organizer Portal
  • Knowledge of FIM and International racing
  • Excellent computer, communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs; bend, stoop, push/pull heavier objects
  • Environment: inside; some minor discomforts, outside; exposed to dust, fumes, noise
  • Some specialized commercial/technical/vocational education beyond high school
  • Minimum 3 years job related experience
