About The Position

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Motion Zone Assistant is responsible for the safety and wellbeing of pre-teens who use the Motion Zone facility; oversees and assists users with computers, exergame equipment and video games.

Requirements

• Minimum 16 years of age
• Must complete all pre-hire and onboarding training requirements in a timely fashion.
• Applicants over the age of 18 must pass a criminal background check.
• Excellent communication skills and willingness to interact with youth and co-workers.
• Ability to complete all cleaning responsibilities.
• Must act professionally in all situations.
• Must complete required training and professional development activities.
• Attend staff meetings.
• Prolonged periods of standing and frequent bending.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
• Will be exposed to illness-causing bacteria and viruses.
• All employees are required to follow our child protection policies, complete required training, and report any suspicious or inappropriate behavior immediately.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience working with children is preferred.
• Certification in CPR and First Aid is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Willingness to professionally interact with pre-teens ages 7-13 who are the primary users of the Motion Zone.
• Punctual, reliable attendance.
• Maintains a safe and healthy environment in the Motion Zone area; light cleaning is involved.
• Knows and follows the Motion Zone Policies and Procedures.
• Monitors the Sign-in and Sign-out sheet.
• Posts necessary information to ensure the safety and well-being of users
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Keep the room orderly by ensuring equipment is used properly; notify the supervisor of damaged or broken items.
