Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering (KIE) has an immediate opening for a dynamic Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) Engineer in our Engineering Services group based in Lone Tree, Colorado. You will be part of our rapidly growing MOT Department which works directly with the structural, geotechnical, traffic, drainage, roadway, rail, and materials disciplines in engineering, estimating and construction. This infrastructure design group is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the alternative delivery of infrastructure projects. Kiewit's management and implementation of this process leads to safe, cost effective, and innovative designs that exceed client expectations and furthers Kiewit's legacy of excellence.

  • Develop detailed traffic control, temporary roadway, and detour plans for MOT deliverables.
  • Perform 3D modeling of horizontal and vertical geometric elements including finished grade, walls, barriers, ditches, temporary drainage features, and maintenance of traffic facilities.
  • Mentor and evaluate E1s/Interns.
  • Create surface models utilizing OpenRoads Designer, Civil 3D and/or other similar design software.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary design coordination to ensure that project elements are compatible.
  • Create preliminary design concepts and alternatives for highways and civil features to support cost estimating.
  • Participate in project technical meetings, collaborate to resolve design issues.
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam.
  • Working knowledge of Autodesk and/or Bentley CAD platforms.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing.
  • 2 - 4 years of civil / highway design experience.
  • Familiarity with AASHTO, A Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets, 7th Edition.
  • Familiarity with USDOT/FHWA, MUTCD for Streets and Highways, 2024 Edition.
  • Familiarity with AASHTO, Roadside Design Guide, 4th Edition.
  • Familiarity with design-build/alternative delivery is preferred.
  • Experience developing construction plans for transportation projects is preferred.
