Performs mosquito surveillance tasks and field inspection work, including spraying, in the control and extermination of mosquitoes. Ideal Candidate Profile for Mosquito Inspector I (Surveillance) Obtain a FDACS Public Health Pest Control (PHPC) Applicator license prior to appointment of the position or obtain the license within six (6) months of employment Working knowledge of principles, techniques, equipment and materials used to manage mosquito populations. Ability to preserve specimens following SOPs through proper handling. Ability to perform maintenance and repair on mosquito trap/batteries. Ability to work in outdoor environments such as fields and wooded areas in dry or wet conditions. Ability to read maps and follow routes. Ability to operate a variety of computer programs and devices/equipment used for mosquito management operations. Is motivated and passionate to learn and apply knowledge that provide effective and efficient results. Has strong teamworking skills that encourages group harmony to collaborate on reaching goals. Solve problems in the field using previous training, Standard Operating Procedures, or using sound judgement based on basic principles of operations.
