About The Position

Job Title: Mortgage Staff Accountant Division: Finance Location: Columbia or Florence SC Position Summary: This role is responsible for the daily mortgage transaction journal entries, reconciling general ledger and analyzing financial accounts insuring accurate processing and posting of all account entries. Documents all transaction and general ledger adjustments. Interacts with mortgage, accounting and finance associates to ensure compliance with established accounting procedures. Direct Reports: None

Requirements

Bachelors degree and two to five years of accounting experience
Strong problem solving skills
Excellent computer skills especially spread sheet analysis
Strong attention to details
Good interpersonal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

Prepare daily mortgage transaction journal entries.
Reconcile mortgage loans in process, held for sale accounts, receivable accounts and clearing accounts.
Monitor reconciliations for outstanding items and research/clear items in a timely manner.
Wire customer payments to our servicer Dovenmuehle Mortgage (DMI).
Wire customer payoffs to our servicer DMI.
Mortgage gain on sale analysis
Record Portfolio Principal and Interest
Calculate and prepare entries for Mortgage Cost of Funds
Reconcile assigned monthly reconciliations in a timely manner
Prepare Right Of Use entries
Record DMI Invoice
Analyze and report budget expense variances for the CFO
Reconcile Goodwill account
Reconcile Mortgage Servicing Fee Receivable account
Assist with yearend accounting reviews and clearing exceptions
Ensure all assigned GL accounts are balanced prior to year end
Ensure all Prepaid, CIPs, Project Billings and AEP are reviewed and AEP set up prior to year end.
