About The Position

The Default Specialist I at myCUmortgage is responsible for conducting financial analyses to maximize home ownership retention outcomes for members. This highly specialized role involves assisting members with both voluntary and involuntary liquidation options when home ownership retention is not feasible. The position emphasizes five-star member service while minimizing losses to myCUmortgage and adhering to various regulatory guidelines.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
  • Understanding of applicable laws and regulations pertaining to mortgage default servicing.
  • Understanding of servicing guidelines for various investors and insurers.
  • At least 2 - 5 years' experience in mortgage default servicing functions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to learn complex concepts and apply them appropriately.
  • Prior experience with mortgage default servicing using MSP preferred.
  • Strong emotional intelligence to empathize with members' circumstances.
  • Excellent financial analysis skills.

Responsibilities

  • Contact members with mortgage loans to determine reasons for delinquency and apply collection techniques to bring accounts current.
  • Educate members and partners on workout options for delinquent mortgage loans.
  • Establish and track repayment plans to confirm adherence to agreements.
  • Interpret and document information from various sources in accordance with guidelines.
  • Assist in training other staff members.
  • Correspond with members to obtain financial information and discuss loss mitigation options.
  • Analyze members' financial information to determine foreclosure avoidance options.
  • Monitor member obligations and prepare necessary documents to avoid foreclosure actions.
  • Correspond with members and investors regarding current statuses and obligations.
  • Update servicing systems with loan status and interface with other departments.
  • Monitor accounts and attorney performance during the foreclosure process.
  • Ensure proper setup of new foreclosures in the servicing system.
  • Provide accurate foreclosure figures to attorneys and manage foreclosure proceedings.
  • Ensure new bankruptcy filings are set up properly and monitor accounts during the bankruptcy process.
  • Manage vacant and owned properties to ensure they are secure and winterized.
  • Prepare and file all investor, insurer, and guarantor claims timely and accurately.
