About The Position

Wells Fargo is seeking a Mortgage Retail Sales Consultant (SAFE) in Consumer Lending as part of Home Lending. This role involves participating in soliciting residential mortgages from various sources, producing high quality, compliant loans, and providing excellent customer service. The consultant will build relationships with realtors, builders, financial professionals, bank stores, past customers, and other non-traditional sources, while developing and maintaining a high degree of visibility for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage in the marketplace. The position requires staying informed of mortgage industry trends and developments in the assigned market, presenting recommendations for producing loans, and exercising independent judgment while adhering to Mortgage Retail Sales functional area, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements. Key duties include understanding real estate appraisals, title reports, and real estate transactions, receiving customer applications, quoting rates, completing follow-up activities with registration lock-in, and analyzing/offering mortgage loan products based on client needs. The consultant will review and analyze low to moderately complex financial and credit data to match customer needs with appropriate loan programs and risk levels, and inform prospective and existing customers of Wells Fargo Home Mortgage programs, rates, policies, underwriting requirements, and loan procedures, ensuring high client satisfaction through timely and proactive customer communication. This SAFE position involves customer contact and job duties which may include the offering/negotiating of terms and/or taking an application for a dwelling secured transaction, requiring compliance with the S.A.F.E. Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 and all related regulations. Ongoing employment is contingent upon meeting all such requirements, including acceptable background investigation results, and meeting the Loan Originator requirements under Regulation Z (LO). The role also involves pursuing Wells Fargo training offerings to increase knowledge of company products, policies and procedures, and underwriting requirements.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of Mortgage Retail Sales experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • Compliance with the S.A.F.E. Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 and all related regulations
  • Meet the Loan Originator requirements under Regulation Z (LO)
  • SAFE registration at the time of employment
  • Meet the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau qualification requirements and comply with related Wells Fargo policies, including applicable financial responsibility, character, general financial fitness and criminal background standards
