DuPont Community Credit Union (DCCU) is currently seeking qualified candidates for a Mortgage Underwriter role to join a team of dedicated Mortgage Operations professionals. Please note this is an on-site position located in Waynesboro, VA and currently does not offer the opportunity for remote work. What You’ll have the Opportunity to do: Underwrite portfolio and conventional loans in accordance with DCCU and investor requirements. Communicate underwriting decision to Mortgage Advisor Communicate with investor and MI company contacts for underwriting questions Review appraisal and complete review checklists to ensure subject property conforms to investor standards Counteroffer within DCCU and investor guidelines, using all tools available, when applicable Analyze self-employed income according to investor methods and standards Issue clear to close, ensuring closed loans meet all investor eligibility criteria prior to closing. Assist Mortgage Operations leader with training Processors and new Underwriters Assist with the maintenance of underwriting guidelines and manuals to ensure that changes and updates are effectively communicated to mortgage lending staff Responsible for Pre-funding and Post-closing QC Responsible for the partial release process for first mortgages and HELOCs Responsible for managing the release of liability process Provide courteous and prompt support to DCCU internal and external members Required to attend or participate in necessary compliance training, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC, and Privacy Perform other duties as assigned by Mortgage Operations leader What You Bring to the Table: A High School Diploma or equivalent, bachelor’s degree preferred 2-3 years of secondary market underwriting experience, preferred Ability to understand and apply Real Estate regulations appropriately (MDIA, RESPA, TILA, Reg B, et. al.)
