About The Position

Keesler Federal Credit Union is seeking a Mortgage Loan Processor I to join our team. This position is responsible for all activities required to process mortgage loans from application through closing to delivery on the second market. The role involves processing various types of mortgage applications, gathering necessary loan documents, ensuring compliance with federal regulations, and assisting members and other departments with inquiries. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, with some college education being desirable. The position does not have supervisory responsibilities and reports to the Mortgage Processing Manager.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 0-1 years mortgage experience.
• 0-1 year mortgage loan processing experience or equivalent required.
• Prefer 1 year experience processing FHA, VA, USDA and Conventional loans.
• Basic comprehension of arithmetic competency and basic clerical skills.
• Ability to meet established productivity standards.
• Outgoing personality with a helpful attitude and well-developed sales culture attitude toward credit union services.
• Accuracy and attention to details.
• Ability to balance and deliver on requests and application processing needs from multiple Loan Originators.
• Good interpersonal skills with members and other staff.
• Familiarity with KFCU guidelines, policies and procedures.
• Skilled in Mortgage Loan Processing.
• Ability to communicate with insurance agents, attorneys, appraisers, Realtors, and other vendors.
• Knowledgeable with all KFCU products and services to cross-sell to members.
• Willingness and ability to be cross-trained throughout the organization.
• Ability to keep abreast of changing policies and regulations.
• Maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Processes all First Mortgage, Second Mortgage, Land Loans and Home Equity applications.
• Gathers all necessary loan documents and validates accuracy and updates the LOS as needed.
• Follows up on missing Orders and reviews all documentation, i.e., appraisal, survey, title commitment, etc.
• Notifies Mortgage Manager of any irregularities and updates the LOS as needed.
• Takes necessary follow-up actions to assure receipt of complete loan.
• Assists members, other departments, and department staff with inquiries or problems in a friendly and professional manner.
• Refers more serious matters to the Mortgage Processing Supervisor.
• Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
• Maintains knowledge of and adheres to KFCU's internal compliance policies.
• Serves as a back-up to the assigned Mortgage Loan Processor.
