About The Position

Mortgage Loan Originator Location: Cookeville JOB SUMMARY: The Mortgage Loan Originator develops mortgage loan business by generating a referral base to identify new prospects. This position interviews loan applicants, informs applicants of documentation needed for processing, and monitors the loan process to facilitate timely closings. The Mortgage Loan Originator reports to the Mortgage Division President and provides excellent customer service to employees while demonstrating the Company values and supporting the mission. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Originate quality conventional, FHA, VA, RD, and THDA residential loans based on secondary market guidelines Responsible for generating production volume based on assigned production goals Network with realtors, builders, attorneys, and CPAs to generate a referral base Develop mortgage loan business with new prospects Interview loan applicants and generate complete loan applications with necessary supporting documentation for submission to processing Monitor the loan process to facilitate timely closings Utilize sales and service strategies to retain existing relationships and enable growth of new relationships. Actively participates in follow-up strategies. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional associations Adhere to compliance with all federal bank regulations and laws, including those for consumer protection and the Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering Program Attend training as requested Participate in outside community activities as required Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 3 years of residential mortgage origination experience
  • Ability to develop business in the targeted market areas
  • Extensive knowledge of all guidelines, laws, and regulations related to mortgage lending
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and other standard software applications
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation and networking skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Critical thinking, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills
