About The Position

The Mortgage Loan Originator markets and originates qualified rural residential and lifestyle loans. Develops business development strategies that target potential Association customers and other influencers that may be a source of referrals for qualified residential and lifestyle loans. Maintains effective supervision of loans through sound loan administration to ensure Association position. Markets the Association by being a source of referrals for other lending segments of the Association.

Requirements

  • Two years of post-secondary education and at least two years of related experience, preferably in the lending or legal field.
  • Demonstrated understanding of mortgage loan origination, documentation, and compliance standards.
  • Experience working directly with borrowers, title companies, appraisers, and other professionals in the loan process.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Four or more years of professional experience in lending, financial services, or real estate preferred.
  • Skilled in networking, generating leads, and developing new business through proactive relationship management.
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, and credit practices in the Farm Credit System and the Association, with an emphasis on consumer lending.
  • Strong understanding of residential and lifestyle loan products, including construction, refinance, and rural housing programs.
  • Experience using mortgage or loan origination systems (LOS) and other financial software tools.
  • Ability to analyze borrower financials and assess creditworthiness accurately and efficiently.
  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with borrowers and referral partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple loan files while meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy.
  • Provides referrals to other lending segments and promotes full-service Association products.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a marketing plan for residential and lifestyle loan products that meets Association volume and income goals.
  • Perform active business development, networking, and public relations activities to promote Association products and services.
  • Engage in planned marketing activities designed to stimulate loan demand, expand market penetration, and enhance Association name recognition.
  • Participate in community and public-relations events to increase exposure in the target market.
  • Collaborate with the Sales Manager to remain within the established marketing budget.
  • Originate and administer loans in a sound, constructive manner in accordance with Farm Credit System and Association regulations.
  • Ensure all loan decisions are supported by accurate, well-documented facts and analysis.
  • Prepare and deliver complete loan packages promptly to facilitate efficient processing and compliance.
  • Maintain effective supervision of loans to protect the Association’s financial position.
  • Achieve an average processing time of fewer than 55 days from application to closing.
  • Ensure loan pricing achieves maximum gross profit, consistent with market conditions and area characteristics.
