This role focuses on skill development, product knowledge growth, and pipeline building under the guidance of MLO II, MLO III, and leadership. The MLO I provides high-quality member service while progressively building competency and independence.

Requirements

  • Required Experience: 0 to 1 year of similar experience
  • Ability to obtain NMLS license
  • Education: Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Other Skills: Proficiency in spreadsheet and word processing software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Physical Requirements: Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 15 lbs.
  • Must be capable of climbing/descending stairs in emergency situations.
  • Role occasionally requires travel throughout KC Metro area.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer, tablet, telephone, copier, facsimile, printer, scanner, and calculator.
  • Must be able to routinely perform work on a computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day.
  • Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management.
  • Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.
  • Work Environment: Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in a climate-controlled office environment with minimal noise.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred Experience: Demonstrated track record of successfully achieving sales targets.
  • Experience working with a diverse portfolio of mortgage products, including FHA and VA loans.

Responsibilities

  • Originate first mortgage loans primarily involving standard, low-risk loan products and straightforward borrower profiles.
  • Learn and apply Mazuma Credit Union’s mortgage products, policies, and procedures with frequent guidance and oversight.
  • Support members through the mortgage application process, ensuring documentation is accurate and submitted timely with assistance as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with processors, underwriters, MLO IIs, and MLO IIIs, to understand file structuring and approval requirements.
  • Maintain regular member communication with support, escalating questions or concerns appropriately.
  • Begin developing referral relationships with real estate professionals and internal partners with leadership guidance.
  • Actively participate in coaching, training, and feedback opportunities to build competency in mortgage products and regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as credit union policies, with supervisory review.
  • Deliver consistent, professional member service while continuing to build confidence and technical proficiency.
