This role focuses on skill development, product knowledge growth, and pipeline building under the guidance of MLO II, MLO III, and leadership. The MLO I provides high-quality member service while progressively building competency and independence.

Requirements

Required Experience: 0 to 1 year of similar experience
Ability to obtain NMLS license
Education: Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Other Skills: Proficiency in spreadsheet and word processing software
Excellent verbal and written communication
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Physical Requirements: Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 15 lbs.
Must be capable of climbing/descending stairs in emergency situations.
Role occasionally requires travel throughout KC Metro area.
Valid driver’s license required.
Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer, tablet, telephone, copier, facsimile, printer, scanner, and calculator.
Must be able to routinely perform work on a computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day.
Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management.
Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.
Work Environment: Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in a climate-controlled office environment with minimal noise.

Nice To Haves

Preferred Experience: Demonstrated track record of successfully achieving sales targets.
Experience working with a diverse portfolio of mortgage products, including FHA and VA loans.

Responsibilities

Originate first mortgage loans primarily involving standard, low-risk loan products and straightforward borrower profiles.
Learn and apply Mazuma Credit Union’s mortgage products, policies, and procedures with frequent guidance and oversight.
Support members through the mortgage application process, ensuring documentation is accurate and submitted timely with assistance as needed.
Collaborate closely with processors, underwriters, MLO IIs, and MLO IIIs, to understand file structuring and approval requirements.
Maintain regular member communication with support, escalating questions or concerns appropriately.
Begin developing referral relationships with real estate professionals and internal partners with leadership guidance.
Actively participate in coaching, training, and feedback opportunities to build competency in mortgage products and regulations.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as credit union policies, with supervisory review.
Deliver consistent, professional member service while continuing to build confidence and technical proficiency.
