About The Position

The Mortgage Loan Officer I is responsible for interviewing and counseling members regarding first mortgage loans, guiding them through the application process, and maintaining relationships throughout the loan closing process. Requirements

  • Effective public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software.

  • Working knowledge of Navy Federal Mortgage Production and Servicing Systems.
  • Knowledge of mortgage/equity loan processing and documentation requirements.
  • Familiarity with VA and conventional loan program regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Interview and counsel members about first mortgage loans and take mortgage loan applications.
  • Establish and maintain personal relationships with members throughout the loan process.
  • Determine applicants' qualifications and provide detailed information about mortgage products.
  • Analyze referred loans for areas of concern and determine proper course of action.
  • Advise members on approved loan conditions and documentation requirements.
  • Ensure progress and inclusion of required mortgage processing information.
  • Maintain contact with members, realtors, and sellers during the loan process.
  • Monitor mortgage loan process for compliance with Federal laws and Navy Federal guidelines.
  • Remain available to members and real estate agents during scheduled evening hours and weekends.
  • Request and obtain necessary documentation and forward to Mortgage Processor.
  • Respond to inquiries about mortgage applications and processing status.
  • Conduct outside marketing and promotional activities to members and potential members.
  • Take first mortgage loan applications via face-to-face interview, mail, and telephone.
  • Resolve operational and processing issues, inquiries, and complaints.
  • Review applications for completeness and accuracy, determining if additional information is required.
