About The Position

The position involves interviewing and counseling members about first mortgage loans and taking mortgage loan applications. The incumbent will establish and maintain personal relationships with members, guiding them through the mortgage loan process from initial application to loan closing. Responsibilities include determining applicants' qualifications, providing detailed information about Navy Federal's mortgage and equity loan products, clarifying complexities of the mortgage/equity loan process, and evaluating, personalizing, and recommending financing alternatives. Additionally, the role requires building and maintaining referral relationships with realtors, builders, and other centers of influence.

Requirements

  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with automated systems.
  • Familiarity with accounting, credit, and/or lending principles and techniques.
  • Experience in member/customer service, preferably in a related field.
  • Exposure to lending application and approval process.
  • Familiarity with mortgage lending concepts and principles.
  • Familiarity with banking/financial industry standards and practices.
  • Effective database and presentation software skills.
  • Effective skill in performing mathematical calculations.
  • Effective skill in guiding members through interactions.
  • Effective skill in comprehending and communicating complex legal documents.
  • Effective skill in speaking and presenting in professional settings.
  • Effective word processing and spreadsheet software skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of Navy Federal Mortgage Production and/or Servicing Systems.
  • Working knowledge of mortgage/equity loan processing, closing, and documentation requirements.
  • Familiarity with mortgage lending requirements for VA and conventional loan programs.

Responsibilities

  • Interview and counsel members about first mortgage loans.
  • Take mortgage loan applications.

  • Ensure progress and inclusion of required mortgage processing information.
  • Maintain contact with members, realtors, and sellers during the loan process.
  • Monitor mortgage loan process for compliance with Federal laws and Navy Federal guidelines.
  • Remain available to members during scheduled evening hours and days off.
  • Request and obtain necessary documentation for mortgage processing.
  • Respond to inquiries about mortgage applications and processing status.
  • Conduct outside marketing and promotional activities.
  • Take first mortgage loan applications via various methods.
  • Resolve operational/processing issues and inquiries.
  • Review applications for completeness and accuracy.
