The Loan Assistant supports the Loan Officer and borrower throughout the front-end mortgage process, primarily from pre-application through early processing, with continued coordination through underwriting and closing. This role increases Loan Officer capacity, responsiveness, and sales effectiveness by managing administrative functions, ensuring file accuracy, and maintaining consistent communication with borrowers and internal partners. The Loan Assistant must have a strong understanding of the loan process to anticipate needs, review documentation for completeness, and help prevent delays. Who We Want: Champion of Growth – Increase Loan Officer production capacity by managing administrative and file-preparation responsibilities Support responsiveness to borrowers and referral partners through proactive communication Help strengthen relationships with borrowers, realtors, and internal teams through consistent updates Improve turnaround times by ensuring files are complete and submission-ready Enhance overall customer experience by maintaining organized, efficient workflows Support construction lending growth through project monitoring and coordination Industry Expert – Maintain a strong understanding of the mortgage loan process from pre-qualification through closing Anticipate documentation and structural needs of each loan file Review submitted documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance prior to submission Ensure files are “processing-ready” and “underwriting-ready” before submission Communicate loan structure details and file intricacies effectively with Processing and Underwriting Understand construction timelines, draw processes, and change order procedures (for construction loans) Maintain accurate records within the Loan Origination System (LOS) and related platforms Analytical Thinker – Review loan files for completeness and identify missing documentation Analyze application data to ensure consistency and accuracy Ensure preliminary documentation aligns with loan structure before submission Identify workflow improvements to enhance efficiency
