About The Position

This position is designated for entry level candidates/recent college graduates who are passionate about developing a career in consumer loan underwriting (mortgage, home equity loans/lines). This role offers exposure to the home loan lending industry and real estate with opportunities for growth. Training will be provided.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, economics or related field.
  • 0-5 years relevant work experience or internship experience in finance, mortgage, accounting, banking or related field.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to lead by example and participate as an effective member; conducts self as a professional.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment to resolve problems.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Dependable and adheres to timelines and schedules.
  • Takes initiative in development and completion of projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with a wide range of people.

Responsibilities

  • Make credit decisions on conventional mortgage and home equity loan applications.
  • Review income, asset, credit and appraisal documents.
  • Provide support to the senior underwriting staff by reviewing loan conditions regarding credit, income, and collateral risk.
  • Work within specified time frames to assist in closing loans in a timely manner.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of the information reviewed.
  • Maintain and improve personal knowledge and skills.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and guidelines.
  • Analyze risk and request additional documentation as necessary.
  • Stay up to date with agency guidelines, products and recent regulatory changes.
  • Perform other duties as requested by manager.
  • Provide exceptional servicing support to customers and loan officers.
  • Adhere to all First United Policies and Procedures.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
