In this role you will generate mortgage loan production through external business development, member consultation, and proactive sales activity. This role acts as a trusted advisor to members, delivers high-quality guidance throughout the mortgage lifecycle, and represents the credit union within the community and professional partner network. The position requires advanced mortgage expertise, strong sales capability, and an ability to independently manage a high-volume pipeline in a compliant manner. Compensation: $81,125-$101,407 plus commission Reporting: Hybrid As a hybrid role there will be on site reporting requirements to branch offices. NOTE: This position requires the employee to register as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry and obtain a unique identifier number prior to performing any function that would meet the definition of MLO activities.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years sales experience
  • Strong understanding of conventional, portfolio, and government mortgage products.
  • Ability to travel regularly for partner visits, events, and community outreach.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • SAFE Act registration required must pass background and licensing requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in business, finance, or related field.
  • 3–5 years recent experience in mortgage origination with demonstrated production results.
  • Established local realtor referral network.

Responsibilities

  • Business Development & Sales Build, grow, and manage a strong referral network of realtors, builders, financial advisors, community organizations, and professionals.
  • Conduct proactive outreach to generate leads, including outbound calling, partner engagements, and attendance at community/home-buyer events.
  • Provide home-ownership education through workshops, webinars, or community presentations to support financial well-being.
  • Maintain a visible presence in local real estate markets to grow brand awareness and mortgage production.
  • Member Consultation Conduct comprehensive mortgage needs assessments using a consultative, member-first approach.
  • Educate members on available mortgage products, pricing, terms, and program eligibility.
  • Provide ongoing communication throughout the origination, processing, underwriting, and closing phases.
  • Loan Origination & Pipeline Management Originate purchase, refinance, home equity, and portfolio mortgage loans.
  • Collect, review, and submit all required documentation accurately and timely.
  • Monitor loan progress, resolving conditions and member questions quickly.
  • Ensure pipeline meets turn-time, service, and quality expectations.
  • Compliance & Quality Control Maintain full compliance with regulatory requirements (SAFE Act, TRID, Fair Lending, HMDA, ECOA, etc.).
  • Uphold privacy, data-security, and ethical lending practices.
  • Submit all required documentation with accuracy and completeness to minimize audit findings.
  • Collaboration & Internal Support Work closely with processors, underwriters, closers, and lending leadership to ensure frictionless member experiences.
  • Support branch and call center staff by providing mortgage product knowledge and assistance in identifying opportunities.
  • Participate in periodic training, pipeline meetings, and departmental initiatives.
