Merchants Bank is seeking a Mortgage Closing Specialist. Initial training will be in Winona, MN and then can be worked out of any Merchants Bank location in MN and WI with office space available. This full-time position will be 40 hours per week generally working 8:00am – 5:00pm Monday through Friday. The primary responsibilities are to prepare accurate initial and final closing documents and disclosures within regulatory requirements, and balance and disburse funds for mortgage loan file closings. Essential Responsibilities: Understanding of TRID guidelines and timing requirements Prepare and deliver initial closing disclosure to borrower(s) within TRID guidelines Prepare accurate closing documents and deliver them to the settlement agent within the required timeline Balance, prepare and submit wires or deposit funds due to the settlement agent Follow-up on closed loans to ensure the return of the signed documents to the Mortgage Closing Department Activate conventional monthly mortgage insurance Submit government insuring fees and follow-up for activation Submit customer identification forms for closed loans Resolve closing suspense conditions Resolve outstanding balances related to disbursing general ledgers and checking accounts Monitor the Mortgage Closing/Disbursing Help Desk email and phone Perform Disclosure Desk duties as assigned Employee may be asked to perform other duties required by the Mortgage Closing Department Regular and dependable attendance is an essential function of the job Adherence to compliance with applicable laws concerning financial institutions Closing Help Desk Technician – covers questions, construction draws, rush and change requests. Disclosure Desk Technician – provides timely initial, revised and final closing disclosures to borrowers and settlement agents. Position may require overtime during periods of high volume. Relationships: Responsible to the Mortgage Processing/Closing Manager for clarification of position’s responsibilities, authority, and for proper interpretation. Position will have high degree of telephone contact with internal and external customers/contacts. Must have ability to work effectively and professionally in team environment.
