About The Position

The Atlantic Health System Nurse Externship Program is designed for junior nursing students to gain practical experience in a clinical setting under the guidance of experienced nurses. This 8-week program allows externs to learn about the professional nursing role while being precepted in a specific unit, enhancing their critical thinking and nursing skills. The externship aims to build confidence and competence in delivering basic nursing care, with opportunities for continued employment post-program.

Requirements

• A minimum of a 3.0 GPA
• Two letters of recommendation from Clinical Instructors/Professors
• BLS certification

Responsibilities

• Observe the professional role of the Registered Nurse
• Learn and enhance critical thinking skills
• Build confidence by practicing and delivering basic nursing care, skills, and competencies
• Develop nursing and time-management skills
