Morning Traffic Anchor / Noon Anchor

About The Position

WTAE-TV, the ABC affiliate in Pittsburgh, PA is now hiring a Traffic Anchor. This person will also anchor the Noon show on weekdays. We need a good storyteller who has excellent on-air presence and engagement skills. We want someone who can captivate our viewers on social media and a journalist who will grow this position. Requirements

Professional or college experience as a journalist and storyteller in a commercial television station
Experience using traffic systems preferred
Suited to ad-lib in breaking news situations
Clear speech, basic knowledge of how to use a computer and basic knowledge of social media
Familiar with street and highway names and directions; quick to learn
Must be creative and work well with others
Related military experience will be considered

Responsibilities

Prepare morning reports with graphics
News gather for traffic reports
Provide concise live traffic reports for morning show
Research and report up-to-the-minute traffic conditions
Communicate important traffic information to the show producers and show anchors promptly
Make sure that corresponding graphics, video and live shots are used accurately
Communicate morning traffic information to viewers through digital platforms including our station website, mobile app, and social media pages
Produce transportation related stories and present traffic information in the field
Anchor the weekday Noon newscasts
