About The Position

LMI is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Moodle Technical Subject Matter Expert to serve as the foremost authority on Moodle (Workplace or LMS) solutions within our our Army Training Information System (ATIS) Team. ATIS is a major Army initiative to modernize and consolidate multiple training systems into a single, cloud-native, enterprise-level capability. The ideal candidate will possess a deep technical expertise in Moodle Workplace administration, PHP development, configuration, and integration, alongside a strong ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders to support our clients learning objectives. As part of an Agile Release Train (ART) operating under the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), this role is pivotal in ensuring our Moodle Workplace platforms are secure, compliant, and optimized to meet the dynamic needs of our training programs. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of direct experience in Moodle administration, configuration, and customization.
  • Proven hands-on experience troubleshooting Moodle Workplace beyond the GUI, including cron job management, PHP code/plugin debugging, and backend administration in a Linux-hosted Moodle Workplace environment.
  • Proficiency in database development (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and
  • Possession of applicable DoD 8140 cybersecurity workforce qualification or ability to complete within six months.
  • Demonstrated capability in troubleshooting complex technical issues across application, database, and network layers.
  • Familiarity with AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, etc.) in a hosted environment.
  • Ability to function both independently and collaboratively in a matrixed team structure.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance - note that only US Citizens can obtain a clearance.

  • SAFe Agile certification.
  • Experience with Linux server administration.
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, and cloud hosting environments.
  • Prior experience in military, government contracting, or federal civilian roles related to training or educational systems.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Active Secret Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical authority on Moodle Workplace solutions, providing expertise in configuration, administration, and integration within the ATIS framework.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to analyze requirements, align with Moodle Workplace solutions, design solutions, and implement enhancements aligned with Army training goals.
  • Manage Moodle Workplace configuration, including the development of new plugins.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting beyond the GUI, including troubleshooting failed cron jobs, debugging PHP code and plugins, executing backend user management tasks, and assisting Cloud Engineers in the resolution of Linux server issues impacting Moodle Workplace installations.
  • Experience with Moodle Workplace multi-tenancy and per-tenant customization including themes and plugins.
  • Proficiency with Linux command-line operations to maintain, update, and troubleshoot the Moodle Workplace instances.
  • Ensure adherence to Army and DoD cybersecurity, data privacy, and accreditation standards, including RMF and ATO processes.
  • Lead Moodle Workplace upgrades, patches, testing, and migration efforts to maintain platform stability and security.
  • Work with the team to develop technical documentation, and conduct knowledge transfer sessions.
  • Monitor system performance, recommending optimizations for scalability and reliability.
  • Stay informed about Moodle roadmap developments and open-source community trends to inform strategic planning and innovation.
