About The Position

The Montessori Assistant position at Mountain West Montessori School involves supporting the Lead Guide/Teacher in creating a nurturing and effective learning environment for children. Requirements

• High school diploma required (college degree preferred).
• Willingness to obtain Montessori Guide Assistant training.
• Commitment to collaboration, integrity, and intention in all interactions with students, families, staff, and Head of school.
• Excellent rapport and communication with students, with a deep understanding and respect for their developmental stage.
• Curiosity, drive, energy, and value on lifelong learning.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English.

Responsibilities

• Developing a program of activities that promotes the social, emotional, physical, and learning development of each child through the prepared environment.
• Ensuring that the complex learning environment is prepared for children, including organizing shelves by subject and replenishing daily used materials.
• Assisting in establishing a classroom culture of calm, productive work under the direction of the Guide.
• Supervising the classroom when necessary and working with individual children or small groups as directed by the Lead Guide.
• Helping children meet their physical needs, including escorting them to the bathroom and assisting with changing clothes as needed.
• Gathering observational data continuously to ensure students navigate the environment appropriately and concentration is honored.
• Arriving promptly to prepare the environment for the day and assisting Lead Guides to focus on instruction without interruption.
