Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • BLS
  • Ability to look at screen with several monitors for a prolonged period of time

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the director and with the direct supervision of the Charge RN admits and discharges patients from the monitoring system
  • communicates cardiac rhythms to nursing when requested or when changes occur
  • prints and interprets rhythm strips, per policy.
  • Rhythm strips are given to the Unit Secretary for filing.
  • The monitor technician also maintains continuous monitoring for patients on cardiac telemetry; utilizing a high degree or critical thinking skills to both effectively and appropriately communicate, manage equipment, and alarm settings, per policy.
  • Additional responsibilities include billing input for telemetry and/or other patient charges.
