About The Position

Sovah Health in Danville is seeking a full-time Monitor Technician, under the supervision of an RN, to perform telemetry monitoring by continually surveilling multiple monitors and operating the patient-monitoring computer. Obtain patient information for the telemetry records, such as heart rhythm history. Measures, records, and interprets heart rhythms and identifies abnormalities. Recognize changes in heart rhythms and relay the information to a nurse or physician. Identify significant arrhythmias and/or signs of patient distress and intervene appropriately. Test equipment for proper working order and report any equipment problems to the supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Requires the ability to respond quickly and calmly under stressful or emergencies.
  • Must exhibit effective communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer skills are helpful.
  • Ability to work with others as a team to ensure quality patient care.
  • Requires a full range of motion, including handling and lifting patients and/or equipment, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
  • May require lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • May require frequent bending, squatting, and kneeling.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to the normal range.
  • Requires the ability to work under stressful conditions and/or irregular hours.
  • Potential for exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
  • Requires flexibility in scheduling with the ability to work all shift patterns, including weekends and holidays, to ensure continuity of care and nursing coverage to the patients of Sovah Health Danville on all units.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) HeartSaver CPR required within 8 weeks of hire.
