JOB SUMMARY The Monitoring Technician performs standard work related to telemetry monitoring on patients requiring continual cardiac observation and provides analysis of cardiac rhythms in compliance with all regulatory and hospital/system standards, policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines. This position also provides the interpretation, communications and documentation of cardiac rhythms and other monitored parameters.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED, or 1-year relevant work experience
  • Successful completion of Arrhythmia recognition and interpretation training prior to completing orientation (ability to test out if prior experience)
  • Must be able to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information in English

Nice To Haves

  • Previous nurse aide , monitor tech, EMT, inpatient unit secretary, or PCT Previous experience performing cardiac monitoring
  • Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician [CRAT] or equivalent.
  • Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Basic Knowledge of ECG interpretation, medical/cardiac terminology preferred.
  • Proficiency with navigating electronic monitor system.
  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills with attention to detail, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
