About The Position

Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference. Job Summary Observes cardiac monitors to identify abnormal heart rhythms under the supervision of a registered nurse. Performs duties in a centralized monitoring environment that monitors patients across multiple departments. Observes cardiac monitors and reports any changes in cardiac rhythm per policy. Receives report from the previous shift and documents strips per policy. Responsible for the management and distribution of transmitter boxes. Ensures transmitter boxes are returned to the surveillance center in a timely manner after discontinuation of telemetry monitoring. Reports problems regarding poor transmission, etc. to the appropriate unit and personnel. Reports telemetry system failures to designated personnel and departments. Completes telemetry summary report per policy guidelines. Triages incoming phone calls, provides appropriate information in a calm and concise manner and logs phone calls. Maintains adequate supplies and keeps the monitoring areas and equipment clean and organized. Participates in training and the continuous development of new staff. Attends educational programs, in-services and meetings as required. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education - High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience - No previous experience required.
  • After hire, requires attendance of formal arrhythmia training class and successful completion of the Prisma Health Arrhythmia exam with a minimum passing score within 2 attempts.
  • Successful completion of the arrhythmia exam must be completed within 30 days of hire.
  • Arrhythmia competencies must be maintained on an annual basis if selected into a monitor tech role.

  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
