About The Position

The Monitor Technician is responsible for continuous observation of patient cardiac monitors and provides RNs and/or clinicians with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythms. The technician delivers telemetry to units and performs hook-up/discharge, patient preparation, and teaching related to the monitor.

Requirements

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Certificate of completion in monitor technician course or equivalent.
• One (1) year of acute care experience as a Monitor Tech.
• Possess and maintain current certification in AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers.
• Well organized and able to manage multiple priorities.
• Understanding and familiarity with medical terminology.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Continuous observation of patient cardiac monitors.
• Immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythms to RNs and/or clinicians.
• Deliver telemetry to units.
• Perform hook-up/discharge of monitors.
• Prepare patients for monitoring.
• Teach patients related to the monitor.
