About The Position

Under the direct supervision of an ICU Registered Nurse (RN), this position provides routine patient care, support, and monitoring services for an assigned patient population. A primary responsibility of the role includes continuous cardiac monitoring surveillance, with approximately 50% of time dedicated to observing telemetry monitors for up to 24 patients. This includes accurate interpretation of cardiac rhythms, as well as monitoring of arterial lines (A-lines), catheter lines, and other hemodynamic parameters in accordance with established standards of care, policies, and procedures. The role requires the integration of clinical education, technical competence, and strong patient interaction skills to build trust and collaboration with patients, their families/support systems, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams. The incumbent exercises sound judgment and applies developed clinical skills to support and implement the patient’s plan of care in a timely manner based on diagnosis and clinical presentation. Candidates should possess foundational knowledge and demonstrated competency in cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation, supported by relevant training or certifications such as Basic Dysrhythmia Interpretation, Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation Certification, ECG/EKG Interpretation, Telemetry Certification, Arrhythmia Recognition, or EKG Technician Certification. This position strictly adheres to all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as organizational policies and procedures, to ensure patient privacy, safety, and high-quality care delivery.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
  • EKG Technician upon hire
  • CCT (CCI) – Certified Cardiographic Technician upon hire
  • CRAT (CCI) – Cardiac Rhythm Analysis Technician upon hire
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic patient care skills, various medical terminology, views, and equipment.
  • Ability to recognize an emergency situation and take appropriate action.
  • Written and verbal communications skills to communicate with fellow team members, supervisors, patients, and other personnel.

  • Advanced knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook), electronic health records (EHR), EPIC, and related information systems.

  • Prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies and procedures to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
  • Work independently, as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.
  • Identify, evaluate and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options.
  • Ensure the privacy of each patient’s protected health information (PHI).
  • Build collaborative relationships with peers and other staff members to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.
