About The Position

The Monitor Technician at CHI Memorial Hospital is responsible for the continuous observation and documentation of cardiac rhythms, identifying any changes in patient conditions. This role requires critical thinking skills and the ability to interpret EKG waveforms. The technician will monitor up to 60 patients on telemetry and must maintain effective communication with nursing staff while documenting observations accurately.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Ability to pass the basic EKG waveform interpretation exam prior to hiring
• Critical thinking skills
• Completion of telemetry monitor tech class within 3 months of employment
• Ongoing education on tele/EKG interpretation through 3 levels of learning sessions.

Responsibilities

• Observe up to 60 patients on telemetry monitors
• Document cardiac rhythms and identify any changes
• Communicate frequently with nursing staff
• Perform channel and red phone checks
• Complete other duties as assigned by management, including EKGs if applicable.
