About The Position

The Monitor Tech position at Starr Regional Medical Center involves continuous surveillance of telemetry monitors in the Telemetry department. The role is crucial for identifying significant arrhythmias and signs of patient distress, ensuring timely intervention and communication with nursing staff. This is a permanent, full-time position that requires attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a healthcare environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of college preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs continual surveillance of multiple monitors.
• Reads telemetry test strips and places them in the patient charts at required intervals.
• Identifies significant arrhythmias and/or signs of patient distress and intervenes appropriately.
• Identifies and corrects for artifacts.
• Reports abnormal assessment and telemetry findings or changes in patient physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
• Tests equipment for proper working order and reports equipment problems to supervisor.
