The Monitor Technician is responsible for continuous surveillance of telemetry monitors to assess and document patient cardiac rhythms. This role involves identifying arrhythmias, communicating findings to the healthcare team, and ensuring monitoring equipment is functional and accurately configured. The technician supports patient safety and effective care delivery by continuously observing and interpreting patient telemetry monitors, accurately recording rhythm strips at established intervals, and promptly notifying the nurse or other licensed personnel of any rhythm changes, including potentially life-threatening arrhythmias. They also maintain effective communication with peers, staff, physicians, and leaders, troubleshoot and resolve issues with monitoring equipment, organize and track equipment, and ensure accurate lead placement and electrode application.
