About The Position

This position assumes daily tasks of observing, operating, and maintaining cardiac monitors. Identifies cardiac arrhythmias and seeks appropriate intervention. Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge of cardiac rhythm interpretation or must agree to successfully complete a Cardiac Monitoring Class.
  • Employees need to demonstrate competency in Microsoft Windows.
  • Employees may be required to participate in further learning opportunities offered by MyMichigan Health.
  • Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.
  • Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
  • Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
  • Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
  • Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
  • Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
  • Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 21-50 lbs., frequently 34-66% of the workday 20 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls and constantly (67-100% or the workday) 10 lbs.
  • Credential:TEAM ADVANCED: Techniques for Effective Aggression Mgt. Within 6 months of hire or transfer (Employees who are in this position on or before 12/31/2023 will have 24 months to complete this certification)
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses the patient's rhythm to ensure a timely implementation of prescribed care.
  • Plans and organizes to achieve maximum productivity efficiency to achieve completion of expected job tasks.
  • Implements actions that compliments and supports nursing care.
  • Evaluates his/her tasks to ensure coordination and communication of patient care.
  • Self-Management (Demonstrates effective communication skills and interpersonal relationships. Assumes responsibility for own continued development and assists with the development of other staff members.)
  • Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement as required by the Hospital and the job description.
  • Operates monitor equipment as outlined on orientation checklist and policies/procedures.
  • Performs job skills outlined on orientation checklist as they relate to role expectations.
