About The Position

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Sunnyvale is an acute care hospital serving the communities in and around Sunnyvale, Texas. We are located just minutes east of Dallas and south of Garland / Rowlett on Hwy 80 at Collins Road in Sunnyvale. Many team members live in Forney, Mesquite, Garland, Balch Springs, and Rockwall areas with a short commute. Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Sunnyvale is seeking a Monitor Tech that provides indirect care in the department setting. Monitors cardiac rhythms via direct cardiac screen or telemetry monitors. Meets communication needs of the department. Transcribes physician orders from records with notation and signatures by nursing staff. Prepares and compiles records in the department. Maintains regulatory body requirements, policies and procedures and participates in performance improvement activities. Clients served are predominately adults eighteen (18) year of age and older. Occasionally adolescents, pediatrics and infants are seen.

Requirements

High school diploma or the equivalent.
Monitor tech certificate or completion of EKG class.
Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
Basic computer knowledge.
Word processing

Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
Organizes and manages activities to show consideration of the unit as a whole.
Reflects knowledge and judgment in decisions and actions within the job description of the monitor technician.
Is aware of patient condition and whereabouts when patient is out of the unit.
Communicates information about dysrhythmias to the charge nurse and primary care nurse.
Demonstrates competency in interpreting dysrhythmias.
Orders supplies and stocks as required.
Assists in recording information for performance improvement activities.
Runs and posts rhythm strips at the specified times.
Demonstrates knowledge of computer system.
Accepts additional assignments willingly.
