About The Position

Your Focus Could Save a Life...Join Our Team as a Monitor Tech! Are you ready to be the first line of defense for patient safety? As a Monitor Tech, you'll be the heartbeat behind the scenes. You'll watch over patients' heart rhythms, recognize changes the moment they happen, and sound the alarm so our care team can act fast. This is an entry-level role; all you need is a high school diploma, a steady focus, and the drive to learn. We'll train you to master arrhythmia detection, and you'll need to successfully complete our course within a set timeframe. What makes this role exciting: Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 7A-7P or 7P-7A, including rotating weekends and holidays. Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • One-year acute care experience
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English Fluently
  • BLS
  • Certificate for successful completion of the arrhythmia course

Responsibilities

  • Performs Secretary Duties
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Knowledgeable in use of and response to Code Alert
  • Identifies areas for improvement and seeks ways to work on self-defined weaknesses
  • Remains committed to unit, department, and division goals
  • Attends continuing education classes for improvement offered at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.
  • Reports risk management concerns to appropriate person
  • Adheres to proper chain of command.
  • Serve as an information resource for staff
  • Maintains visual checks on monitors constantly until relieved by a qualified person.
  • Monitors are observed continuously, and the patient's rhythm is documented on flow sheet every eight (8) hours to include date, time, rate, rhythm, PR interval, QRS duration, rhythm interpretation, ST analysis.
  • Assures that alarms are maintained in the ON position at all times. Reports mechanical difficulties to the appropriate person and follows up as necessary.
  • Reports any life-threatening rhythms or rhythms of significant change immediately to the nurse. Notifies RN promptly when procedures are performed, i.e., removal of epicardial wires, pacemaker interrogation, etc.
  • Ensure individual telemetry units are cleaned after each use.
  • Admit and discharge patients from system in a timely manner.
  • Ensures proper disposition of competed flowsheets and any other patient records
  • Maintains adequate supply of monitoring equipment.
  • Routinely reviews rhythm strips and the patient's condition with the nurse in a timely manner.
  • Other Duties as assigned
