Differentiate between lethal and non-lethal arrhythmias and notifies the RN promptly of any arrhythmias. Review patients’ cardiac medication profiles. Notify the nursing and medical staff of heart rhythm pattern variances or ECG interval variances that represent adverse reactions or toxic effects of medications. Use calipers to measure rate and ECG intervals of patients’ heart rhythm patterns on a graphic tape readout, analyze the heart rhythm and record the information on patient's charts. Record strips every 4 hours, or as needed. Maintain an adequate supply of monitoring supplies. Report malfunction of the cardiac monitoring computer and central station equipment to the Manager; thoroughly cleans patient monitor components.
