The position involves continuous ECG monitoring, requiring the ability to assess EKG strips and accurately interpret cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias. The role also demands troubleshooting skills to recognize monitoring problems, identify probable causes, and seek solutions to correct issues. Additionally, the technician is responsible for maintaining inventories, supplies, hardware, and telemetry transmitters in working condition, and must report malfunctions promptly as applicable.

  • Provide continuous ECG monitoring through assessment of EKG strips.
  • Accurately interpret cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias.
  • Measure P-R intervals, QRS widths, and ST segment deviations.
  • Recognize monitoring problems and identify probable causes.
  • Seek solutions to correct monitoring issues.
  • Maintain inventories, supplies, hardware, and telemetry transmitters in working condition.
  • Report malfunctions promptly.
  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Knowledge of cardiac rhythms/basic EKG interpretation.
  • Certification as a Certified Cardiac Monitor Telemetry Technician (CCMTT) through the American Education Certification Association.
  • Certification as a Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International is preferred.
  • One (1) year of experience as a monitor technician is preferred.
