About The Position

The position involves monitoring alarm panels for fire and intrusion on County properties, dispatching Security Department personnel, answering phone calls, and monitoring security cameras. The role requires multi-tasking the monitoring of fire and intrusion alarm systems, security video cameras, and other computer and alarm equipment while maintaining radio communication with DCSD Security personnel regarding security emergencies and general calls for service. The individual will also be responsible for dispatching appropriate personnel to respond to routine, emergency, and facilities or maintenance problems as they arise. Additionally, the position includes informing key DCSD Command staff of emergency situations, maintaining logs of incidents and communications, completing informational reports via the DCSD Records Management and Incident Reporting system, and operating as dispatch for Facilities and Maintenance after hours and on weekends. The role also involves maintaining the department's lost and found and evidence storage unit, storing confiscated items, and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school/GED Program.
  • Four years of public service or work-related experience, or 60 college hours from an accredited college or university, or a combination of both.
  • Must be 21 years of age and meet minimum mental and physical standards.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in basic computer use and Microsoft Office software.
  • Mandatory physical and psychological exam.
  • Mandatory drug testing prior to employment and subject to random testing during employment.
  • Willingness and ability to work shift work on any assigned shift.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
  • Ability to work under stress in emergency situations.
  • Ability to work with peers and outside Fire, Law Enforcement, and Public Service entities.

Responsibilities
