About The Position

Universal Diagnostics (UDx) is looking for Molecular Technologist for our Assay Development Team in the Dallas-Fort Worth, TX area. As a part of our team, you will be performing various molecular techniques that include, but are not limited to, whole blood processing, DNA/cfDNA extractions, PCR, Next-Generation Sequencing, equipment maintenance and sample tracking to optimize workflow for scalable production of UDX Signal-C assay in the lab. You will collaborate with automation, bioinformatics, and manufacturing groups to build protocols allowing for groundbreaking technologies in a high throughput environment.

Requirements

  • BS biology with proven record of working in molecular biology lab.
  • Demonstrate skills in technical data interpretation and ability to troubleshoot.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. General working knowledge of the internet for business use, and skilled in operating office equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with NGS workflows (including DNA extraction, library preparation, and hybrid capture).
  • Experience with automated liquid handling systems.
  • Experience with DNA handling, quantification, and purification.
  • Prior experience in a CLIA/CAP high-complexity laboratory is a plus
  • Knowledge of LIMS platforms

Responsibilities

  • Conduct laboratory tests including sample preparation, including whole blood centrifugation and plasma processing.
  • Perform DNA extractions for molecular testing.
  • Perform molecular biology techniques such as real-time PCR and Next-Generation Sequencing.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of test results.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment including conducting routine maintenance and troubleshooting as needed
  • Follow established laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing.
  • Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, including documenting instrument maintenance and calibrations performed.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, including handling hazardous materials and waste disposal procedures
  • Collaborate with other lab technicians, scientists, and healthcare professionals as needed.
  • Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.
  • Assists with training and mentoring junior lab technicians.
