About The Position

Tempus is seeking a dedicated individual passionate about precision medicine and advancing the healthcare industry. The role involves working with a cutting-edge genomics workflow to provide high-quality next-generation sequencing data with rapid turnaround times in a clinical laboratory. The successful candidate will perform routine quality control and laboratory maintenance procedures, aid the Quality Control Team, decontaminate laboratory equipment, and participate in proficiency testing to ensure accuracy and reliability of laboratory testing results. Mastery of NGS workflows and the ability to train peers and troubleshoot workflow steps is essential. The position also requires performing routine diagnostic oncology testing using complex molecular-based procedures and entering clinical patient data into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).

Requirements

  • MS in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, chemical, physical or biological science OR BS in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, chemical, physical or biological science.
  • At least 60 semester hours from an accredited institution, including 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses or science courses.
  • 2+ years of post-baccalaureate clinical experience in a CAP/CLIA high-complexity laboratory.
  • At least 1 year experience executing in NGS workflows and molecular biology techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-driven and works well in an interdisciplinary team with minimal direction.
  • Impeccable attention to detail.
  • Experience with Good Documentation Practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Illumina (NovaSeq 6000) next-generation sequencing.
  • Work in an oncology or comprehensive genomics testing lab.
  • Experience with robotics and automated liquid handling systems.
  • Knowledge of LIMS platforms and various computer systems.

Responsibilities

  • Work with a cutting-edge genomics workflow to provide high-quality next-generation sequencing data.
  • Perform routine quality control and laboratory maintenance procedures and proficiency testing.
  • Aid the Quality Control Team in routine phase-in and performance qualification of reagents and instrumentation.
  • Decontaminate laboratory equipment and work surfaces in accordance with current laboratory SOPs.
  • Perform routine, daily laboratory maintenance of NGS instrumentation.
  • Participate in routine proficiency testing as required.
  • Read and understand NGS SOPs required to perform routine clinical workflow procedures.
  • Achieve mastery of NGS workflows post-competency.
  • Perform routine diagnostic oncology testing using complex molecular-based procedures.
  • Perform next-generation sequencing, including DNA/RNA quantification and qualification.
  • Enter clinical patient data obtained from routine testing into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Maintain competency to perform all assigned molecular biology protocols.
