Position Overview The Molecular Geneticist reviews clinical DNA test data and test reports. The Molecular Geneticist cultivates expertise in a subspecialty of genetic disease.

Requirements

  • Doctoral Degree in a Chemical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory science from an accredited institution
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Eligibility to sit for the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG) Laboratory Genetics and Genomics (LGG) exam or the Canadian College of Medical Geneticists (CCMG) exam; or 4+ years of total experience reviewing and signing out clinical test reports or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Review genetic testing data, conduct troubleshooting when necessary, review the scientific literature, interpret genetic variants, write/edit genetic test reports, and sign out laboratory test results for tests performed.
  • Curate gene panels to include comprehensive gene lists supported by scientific literature.
  • Assist in the troubleshooting of technical problems, with the aid of technical staff.
  • Ability to manage confidential information.
  • Effectively communicate cross-functionally to all levels within the company.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships by using appropriate interpersonal skills.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment and in project team situations.
  • Comply with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), practices, and applicable professional, Federal, State, and local regulations and assure that the laboratory is in compliance.

  • Support and comply with the company’s Quality Management System policies and procedures.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Ability to act with an inclusion mindset and model these behaviors for the organization.
  • Ability to work designated schedule.
  • Ability to work nights and/or weekends, as needed.
  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of working time, which may include overnight/weekend travel.
