About The Position

The Molecular Genetic Scientist at the Colorado Center for Reproductive Medicine is responsible for performing preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) and other molecular procedures in the Genomics Laboratory. This role requires a strong understanding of laboratory techniques and procedures, as well as the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. The position emphasizes attention to detail, organizational skills, and effective communication, reporting directly to the Scientific and Genetics Director.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology and/or Genetics required.
  • 1-3 years of laboratory experience required.
  • Molecular biology experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated good general laboratory and sterile technique.
  • Ability to accurately pipette small volumes.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to use basic office equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills and customer service orientation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with NGS and SNP microarray platforms.
  • Ability to work quickly with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Flexibility with daily work assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) and other molecular procedures in the Genomics Laboratory.
  • Acquire and process patient blood and buccal swab samples for DNA extraction.
  • Run PGT assays on embryonic biopsies following standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain a sterile environment to prevent DNA contamination.
  • Operate laboratory instruments and equipment accurately, recording all information in log/lab books.
  • Perform maintenance on equipment and instruments as per lab standard operating procedures.
  • Complete data entry into Microsoft Office programs to maintain PGT databases.
  • Monitor lab reagents to ensure necessary supplies are available.
  • Ship and document DNA sample collection kits to patients for PGT testing.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned by laboratory management.
