About The Position

Located in Rochester, NY and founded in 1916, G&H | GS Optics specializes in the custom design and manufacture of precision polymer optics for use in biomedical, healthcare diagnostics, machine vision and analytical instrument markets, as well as military and civilian night-vision and visible-range sighting applications. In addition to the highly automated injection molding process, it has well established in-house capabilities to provide custom designed diamond turned and injection molded prototypes, thin film anti reflective and reflective coatings and integrated optical assembly solutions. As a Molding Operator, you will play a vital part in the production of high-quality optical lenses by inspecting, degating, and packaging injection-molded parts. You will also contribute to quality assurance, process adherence, and operational excellence in a clean and efficient manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Prior manufacturing and/or inspection experience
  • Familiarity with injection molding operations
  • Knowledge of customer satisfaction and quality expectations
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in a production environment with an emphasis on cleanliness and quality
  • Basic computer proficiency, particularly in data entry and ERP systems
  • Commitment to safe work practices and team collaboration
  • Familiar with and follows ISO 9001, ISO 14001; 2015 Standards & SPC practices, and work safety practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of ISO 9000 standards (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and “degate” injection-molded polymer optical lenses of various sizes and shapes.
  • Accurately package parts that meet customer and production quality standards.
  • Report production metrics including cycle time and scrap rates in the ERP system.
  • Operate one or more molding machines and perform basic secondary operations such as milling.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and contamination-free workspace.
  • Read, understand, and follow all work instructions, safety protocols, and process control plans.
  • Collaborate with engineers, process technicians, and quality assurance personnel to resolve production issues.
  • Communicate any operational or quality concerns proactively to the appropriate team members.
  • Participate in inventory checks and prepare materials for the next shift.
  • Assist in the development and updating of work instructions and process improvements.
